Marian CO #4: Dr. Ciappetta's Grammar Class

Is the sentence correct or is there a beautiful mistake?  What's your vote, thumbs up or thumbs down?

This is how Dr. Ciappetta brought her students to the day's grammar lesson. The class began with the discussion of the prior class lesson and the use of past perfect and past perfect continuous tenses.  I'm still amazed at how the students know this information so well.  For example, they knew the past perfect continuous tense would serve to emphasize time.  (I'll bet most native English speakers couldn't tell you that on a dime!)

The remainder of the class focused on phrasal verbs, a verb followed by a preposition and requires an object.  For example, take off, hit on, stand up for, black out, go through with, put up with and get out of.  Dr. Ciappetta discussed these examples with student participation and then had the students match them to their meaning.  Next the class had to write 8 to 10 sentences about something they promised to do but later did not complete, and to use at least four of the phrasal verbs discussed. What was really cool, was how Dr. Chiappetta created a google doc for each student and provided written feedback in real time to each student!  Her feedback was precise such as, "think about your punctuation here" and it was also positive such as, "great example of using stand up for!" I enjoyed this lesson and I imagine the students did as well.
