Marian TS #10

Today, D and I continued to focus on reviewing the narrative essay.  We began by watching a short video about the past perfect tenses, simple and continuous. Knowing the need to improve this skill seemed to keep D focused. We heard good advice from the video to keep our tenses consistent and that if one was writing a narrative (which we were) to always use the past tense, because the story is a memory that occurred in the past. Following the video, we moved on to applying what we learned.

I read aloud short passages of D's essay. By reading aloud, I wanted to see if D could pick up on the places that needed editing.  D was generally able to discern if something was incorrect, but not always able to know how to correct or improve the writing. D showed solid writing skills, but also the need to expand knowledge of tenses and adjectives.

It seems details catch most of us when it comes to writing, native speakers and English Language Learners alike.
